What is Community Whistleblowing
Community based whistleblowing is when you as a member of the public in your private capacity within and ?with a community, report individuals or organizations – even if you do not belong to the prospective organisation at fault or know the private individual that is complicit or engaging in illegal or fraudulent activities.
Why community whistleblowing?
This allows you to take an active role in keeping your neighborhood safe. Whether it is exposing gang crimes, illegal dumping in your area or even illegal behavior your neighbor is participating in. Xono allows you to engage in actionable intelligence which can be defined as having the necessary information immediately available in order to deal with the situation at hand.
Xono allows you to set up community-based whistleblower policies and engage with your community in an anonymous, safe secure way. How do you set up whistleblower polices and what should be outlined in such policies? Setting up community whistleblower policies involve linking the community’s standards of values. Clearly identify the kinds of concerns that may be reported under the community whistleblower policy and how and to whom reports may be made to. Explain how the confidentiality of the whistleblower’s identity is kept safe, and how the whistleblower is protected from retaliation or victimization. It allows you to outline the processes to follow up and investigate reports made under the policy. State that the policy will be periodically reviewed to check that it is operating correctly and that it is still relevant and whether any changes are required to the policy. It allows you as an individual to have the confidence to participate in whistleblowing in your community knowing you will have whistleblower protection and actionable intelligence on your side.
